I had the main 'dramatic' tune down within 3 minutes (no exaggeration). Compared to other movies of this genre, Flood is right up there with the best of them.
"The Flood" is a gut-wrenching tale with real-world urgency: the deluge of refugees fleeing oppressed areas of the world for the safe(r) havens of the West.In many ways, Woodley's film is a two-hander-a battle of will, wits and reluctant honesty between an experienced immigration officer (England) and a hardened, compassionate-at-times refugee (Eritrea).Director Anthony Woodley takes a no-nonsense approach to tough issues and trusts Headey and Jeremiah to play it lowkey and authentic; the result is uncomfortable and timely.Because of the strong writing, whether you are an immigrant or not, the story will be relatable. Carlyle and Gilsig are the usual divorced couple, forced back together by this natural disaster.
